Next you input the client’s liquid assets.
As you can see from the input screen below, several different types
of assets are accounted for. Each is treated separately for the purpose
of calculating account accumulation and distribution.
Important Note #1: In many cases, you will have more cash flow than is needed in a given year (caused by, for example, required minimum distributions from retirement assets that exceed a client’s need). Be certain that you complete the data entry available under “Illustration Details Tab” in its “Reinvestment of Assets Sub-Tab” in order to instruct the System how to reinvest such excess cash flow. (More on the “Reinvestment of Assets Sub-Tab” follows shortly.) Important Note #2: Also under the “Illustration Details Tab” is the “Prioritize the Use of Assets Sub-Tab” where you establish which liquid asset is consumed in what order. It contains a smart solve selection named “Maximize Net Worth” which is designed to maximize net worth. (More on the “Prioritize the Use of Assets Sub-Tab” follows shortly.) Important Note #3: The “Taxable Sub-Tabs” and “Tax Exempt Sub-Tabs” associated with the “Liquid Asset Tab” are very straightforward and easy to use and are therefore not illustrated in this tutorial. The “Tax Exempt Sub-Tabs” can also be used to reflect a Roth IRA provided your analysis does not produce any withdrawals that might be subject to any early withdrawal penalties that might apply. Because of their more complex nature, the “Equity Account Sub-Tabs” and “Tax Deferred Account Sub-Tabs” associated with the “Liquid Asset Tab” are specifically discussed next.
